I got Alexa a domain name for xmas. She likes to to craft and eventually wants to get more involved in the community and sell her stuff online. We figure a blog is the first step towards this goal.
I set up my blog with blogger. I mostly picked it because I could use google to log in. It's worked well for me so far, but wordpress seems to be the software of choice for most people now.
Wordpress is definitely flashier. It does a lot more, like integrated stats, more plugins and features in general. It's an OpenID provider and allows trackbacks too.
I came across a bug with Safari and paragraphs right off the bat, which was very disappointing. If it had been Alexa working on it without me to help her, she probably would have given up blogging or looked for other software.
I'm thinking about moving over, but I'm not all that convinced that it's sufficiently better to be worth while switching. Plus I'd have to fire up Firefox every time I wanted to post :(
